I spent Christmas this year with my partners family in Marburg, Germany. Their house is on a hill and is backed by a working forest which consists of many different tree species. While sitting catching up on the dreadful form of Newcastle United and waiting for my better half to finish playing football I began to notice a lot of bird activity close to the edge of the balcony to which I was looking out onto.
I quickly crushed up some peanuts (time was short, I had lunch to make in an hour) that were conveniently sitting on the coffee table next and threw them onto the branch of one of the pines.
I positioned my camera on the opposite side from where I threw the peanuts. This made sure that no peanuts would be able to be seen in the final image.
Within 20 minutes and about 5 meters of where I was sitting I was lucky enough to capture these shots of these beautiful little Crested Tits (Lophophanes cristatus).

The one above was taken just after he/she (?) landed, hence the flecks of snow.
Enjoy!
